Whygo2 Singapore?
Letsgo2 employees have travelled extensively to the destinations we feature. Here are the five main reasons they would consider a visit to Singapore.
Arts and Entertainment
Singapore is a haven for the arts and entertainment, whether it is local or international, visual or performing arts. The arts scene is influenced by Malay culture, the heritage of Chinese and Indian migrants and the city's international outlook. Therefore, Singapore has a unique arts culture as when new contemporary forms evolve, traditional art forms are simultaneously being preserved. Art and History are intertwined, and the museums in Singapore offer the best overview of Asia's cultural traditions, artifacts and paintings.
Nightlife
Whatever you are looking for, Singapore has nightlife suited to anyone's taste. Entertainment ranges from bars and clubs, to street opera, night markets and international stage shows. Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are popular riverside landmarks that offer exclusive restaurants and floating bars. For those of you who prefer nightclubs, Muhammad Sultan Road is one of the latest entertainment hubs in Singapore. As well as a colourful and exciting nightlife, Singapore has the added advantage of being one of the safest countries in the world for you to hit the streets at night.
Shopping
Shopping is a Singaporean obsession, and the vast range of available goods and competitive prices have led to Singapore being known as a shopper's paradise. Orchard Road is the main shopping street after most of the shop owners moved from Chinatown. However there are still some unusual businesses in the backstreets of Little India, Arab St and Chinatown. Orchard Road offers unrivalled opportunities to shop and although most outlets operate Western-style fixed pricing, bargains can still be made in some places after good research and shrewd negotiating. Electrical equipment can be bought at Sungei Road but be careful as there are many imitation products around.
Weather
Singapore is a truly tropical climate and remains hot and humid all year long. There are two monsoon periods, the northeast monsoon from December to March and the southeast monsoon from June to September where there is more rain during the day. Generally, you can visit Singapore year round.
Food and Drink
In almost every corner of Singapore, you will find an endless variety of food at any hour of the day or night. Although Chinese, Indian and Malay dominate, all international cuisines are here. The signature dish is Hainanese chicken rice while Peranakan-style food combines Chinese ingredients with Malay sauces and spices. However, in this cosmopolitan and multicultural city, expect nothing less than a melange of flavours from around the globe.
